On October 18, 2001, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) adopted four major goals, one of which relates to student achievement and supporting local districts so all students will meet the Illinois Learning Standards (ILS). To address the achievement of this goal, the Board adopted a standards-led approach to teaching and learning.
