Description: The Developing A Curriculum (DACUM) technique of curriculum content development, also known as occupational analysis, is based on the philosophy that:

Content experts are able to identify valid, reliable, and non-discriminatory outcomes and competencies.
Expert workers are better able to describe/define their occupation than anyone else.
Any job or outcome can be effectively and sufficiently described in terms of the competencies successful learners/workers in that discipline/occupation perform.
All competencies have direct implications for the knowledge and attitudes that learners/workers need to perform the competencies correctly.
