Assessments

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) academic assessments are classroom resources for teachers to measure student attainment of the Illinois Learning Standards in the areas of English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Science. Currently, 206 sample classroom assessments have been developed by teachers for teachers and are available in the IOES Resource Library for download.

The sample assessments are used by teachers to stimulate the development of additional academic classroom assessments based on realistic occupational skills. They serve as a guide for incorporating the assessment of applicable Illinois Learning Standards into the assessment of student performance of occupational skills.

CTE Academic Assessment Content

Each CTE academic assessment is composed of

  • a lesson plan for the teacher
  • state goal, standard and performance level for the assessment
  • procedures for conducting and scoring the assessment
  • timeline needed to complete the assessment
  • resources needed to complete the assessment
  • student task sheet (for many assessments)
  • rubrics to assist teachers in scoring the assessments based on student achievement of the Illinois Learning Standards

Statewide Services

The Illinois Office of Educational Services (IOES) provides services and resources to support high schools that are aligning CTE curriculum to the Illinois Learning Standards:
